USA Slow Travel

As you know, I’ve been compiling my slow travel destinations in retirement planning to visit around the world. I’ve shared the spreadsheet before but will include it here again for quick reference.

In advance of fully departing down the road, I am thinking that visiting some of the U.S. destinations on shorter vacations would be an ideal way to get my feet wet. In 2024, I visited Florida in the spring and then the coast of Washington in the fall – both slow travel destinations and seasons I expect will fit the bill for my overall requirements.

In 2025, I have a trip scheduled to the Big Island in Hawaii in the fall, and potentially Colorado in early summer. Having previously lived in both of these states I already know these to be ideal times of year to visit.

I am contemplating putting this into Notion or another platform resource down the road, so I can add weblinks, articles, contact information, and such that might not work directly with an Excel spreadsheet. I also would love to map (literally) the routing by season.  Google Maps might work for this but seems a bit cumbersome.

If you have any suggestions for organizing, or for other U.S. destinations I might consider, let me know!
