Big Island Eats

Nothing beats local delights on vacation – and the Big Island did not disappoint! From traditional dishes to exotic fusion, here were the standouts on my recent trip to Hawaii.

Roy’s Waikoloa

Roy’s Waikoloa offers a Sunset Prix Fixe menu featuring three courses designed to showcase their Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. This special menu is available daily from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. (check before you go – reservations recommended), making it an ideal choice for an early dinner with a touch of local flair. Mine was $55.00 total, including salad, entree (steak and local veggies, and a dessert (matcha lava cake and ice cream). I also was presented an additional dessert option for celebrating my birthday (chocolate tart)!

The gorgeous sunset view from the restaurant, located within Waikoloa Beach Resort – Kings Shops, and the exceptional service was well worth the price.

Lava Lava Beach Club Waikoloa

Though I did not eat here, well worth the drive and a stop is the Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa. Very chill vibe right on the water and the sunset cannot be beat!

Huggo’s On the Rocks – Kailua Kona

And I did stop for lunch in Kailua-Kona at the infamous Huggos On the Rocks. Outstanding ceviche, kailua pork sandwich and incredible waterfront views!
