AirBnB Experiences

Not sure if you are an AirBnB fan – I am – but the company recently released a new feature that I think is a win, even if you don’t ever book accommodations through them – AirBnB Experiences.

Back in the day, I was a big Groupon and Living Social fan, as well as Meet-Up. However, once I moved out of the city proper here in the Seattle area, and then out of the suburbs to the actual country, none of those sites really followed me in so far as having options I didn’t have to drive 15+ miles or more to enjoy. And believe me, once you live in the country – in the case of my little hamlet, where everything I need is within a 3-mile radius – I don’t want to drive long distances for much.

Enter, AirBnB Experiences! Per the USA Today article on this news release:

Airbnb Experiences, on the other hand, will allow locals to host events such as trips to museums and landmarks, cooking classes, and outdoor experiences. This feature will launch in 650 cities around the world, with the company planning to add more every day.

There is also a new feature called AirBnB Services – also incredibly cool for travelers who use their accommodations.

Airbnb Services, which users can order directly to their place of stay, will include services such as chefs, spa treatments, personal training and professional makeup artists, among others. The feature will be launching with 10 service types across 260 cities, with new offerings and locations dropping “regularly” in the Airbnb app, the company said in a news release.

If you have the app, you’ve got to check out these new features. I can say in the Experiences option, there are actually several in my neck of the woods – which really surprised and delighted me. Let me know if you find the same in your area!
